Chiropractic Care, Pain and Mobility
What does a chiropractor do?
A chiropractor assesses how the spine, joints and related movement patterns are functioning. Care may include chiropractic adjustments, gentle instrument-assisted techniques, movement advice and individualized home exercises, depending on the person’s needs.
When should I see a chiropractor?
Consider an assessment when pain, stiffness, reduced mobility or recurring discomfort is affecting your daily activities. You may also choose chiropractic care proactively to help maintain movement, function and an active lifestyle.
Can a chiropractor help with low back pain?
Chiropractic care may help some types of low back pain, especially when joint, movement or mechanical factors are involved. Dr. Weyrauch begins with a thorough assessment to determine what may be contributing to the problem and whether chiropractic care is appropriate.
Can chiropractic care help neck pain or a stiff neck?
It may. Neck pain and stiffness can be related to joint restrictions, posture, repetitive activities, previous injury or other factors. Your assessment helps determine the most appropriate approach for your situation.
Can chiropractic care help headaches?
Some headaches, including certain headaches related to the neck or muscle tension, may respond to chiropractic care. Because headaches have many possible causes, the first step is to assess your history and determine whether chiropractic care is suitable.
Can chiropractic care help sciatica?
Sciatica describes pain or other symptoms that may travel from the lower back or buttock into the leg. Because several conditions can cause these symptoms, we first assess what may be contributing before recommending care or referral.
Can chiropractic care improve posture?
Chiropractic care may help address mobility or joint restrictions that contribute to poor posture. Lasting improvement may also involve exercises, workstation changes, movement breaks and better daily habits.
Why does my pain keep coming back?
Recurring pain can be influenced by repetitive activities, posture, restricted movement, incomplete recovery, physical conditioning, stress or an underlying condition. A thorough assessment looks for contributing factors rather than focusing only on where the pain is felt.
Why do massage, stretching or medication sometimes provide only temporary relief?
These approaches may help symptoms, but they may not address every factor contributing to the problem. If discomfort keeps returning, a broader assessment of movement, function, daily activities and health history may be useful.
Can chiropractic care help older adults?
Many older adults seek chiropractic care to help preserve mobility, flexibility, comfort and independence. Techniques are selected according to the person’s health history, clinical findings and comfort level.
Can chiropractic care help active adults and athletes?
Chiropractic care may help improve mobility, movement quality and recovery as part of an active lifestyle. Care is individualized to the activity, the person’s goals and the findings of the assessment.
Can chiropractic care help after a car accident, work injury or sports injury?
It may be appropriate for some injuries, but the type and severity of the injury must be assessed first. We can determine whether chiropractic care is suitable or whether another healthcare provider should be involved.
Safety, Techniques and Treatment
Is chiropractic care safe?
Chiropractic is a regulated health profession in Ontario. Before recommending treatment, Dr. Weyrauch reviews your health history, assesses relevant risk factors and determines whether chiropractic care is appropriate. When needed, techniques are modified or a referral is recommended.
Are chiropractic adjustments painful?
Adjustments are usually well tolerated, although some people may feel brief discomfort or temporary soreness. Our chiropractor adapts the technique and amount of force to your condition, age and comfort level.
What chiropractic techniques does Dr. David Weyrauch use?
Depending on the assessment, care may include hands-on adjustments and gentle instrument-assisted methods. Techniques used here include Activator Methods, Diversified, Thompson and Terminal Point approaches.
Will my treatment be the same at every visit?
No. Your body and clinical findings may change over time. Our chiropractor reassesses how you are responding and adapts the visit rather than automatically repeating the same treatment.
How many chiropractic visits will I need?
There is no single number that is right for everyone. Recommendations depend on your condition, how long it has been present, your goals and how your body responds. The proposed plan should be explained before you decide to proceed.
How often will I need chiropractic care?
Visit frequency depends on your assessment and stage of care. Some people may begin with more frequent visits and reduce the frequency as function improves, while others may require a different plan.
Will I need chiropractic care forever?
No one should be told that lifelong care is mandatory. Some patients stop when they reach their goals, while others choose periodic maintenance or wellness care. The decision should be based on your preferences, progress and clinical needs.
Do I need X-rays before chiropractic treatment?
Not everyone needs X-rays. Dr. Weyrauch determines whether imaging is clinically appropriate based on your history, examination and any warning signs. When imaging is not needed, it should not be ordered routinely.
What should I do if chiropractic care is not appropriate for me?
Integrity is one of our core values. If Dr. Weyrauch believes chiropractic care is not appropriate, he will explain why and may recommend that you consult another healthcare professional.
Your First Visit
What happens during my first chiropractic visit?
Your first visit focuses on understanding your concern. It includes a health history, a thorough assessment and a discussion of the findings so Dr. Weyrauch can determine whether care is appropriate and what next steps may be recommended.
Will I receive treatment during my first appointment?
The first visit is primarily an assessment. Treatment should begin only after Dr. Weyrauch has enough information to determine that it is appropriate and has explained the recommended approach. Let the clinic know when booking if you have an urgent concern.
How long does the first appointment take?
The first appointment typically takes about one hour so there is enough time for the history, assessment and discussion.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring your completed new patient forms, a list of medications and relevant medical information. If you have recent imaging or reports related to your concern, bring those as well.
Cost, Insurance, Booking and Location
How much does chiropractic care cost?

The Chiropractic Health Centre Approach
Why choose our North York practice?
We’ve served the North York community since 1987. Chiropractic Health Centre is committed to helping people understand why problems develop, not simply where they hurt. Dr. David Weyrauch combines extensive clinical experience with thorough assessment, individualized chiropractic care, patient education and practical home recommendations to help restore your body’s capacity to heal itself naturally.
What makes us different?
Care is never based on a routine. Every recommendation begins with a thorough assessment, followed by an explanation of the findings and an individualized plan of care. As your body changes, your care is reassessed and adjusted to help achieve the best possible functional outcome.
Who is Dr. David Weyrauch?
Dr. Weyrauch is a North York chiropractor who has served patients since 1987. His approach is centred on individualized care, careful assessment, nervous system function, movement and helping patients make informed decisions about their health.
What is Results Oriented Care™?
Results Oriented Care™ is Dr. Weyrauch’s personalized approach developed through decades of clinical experience. Rather than applying the same treatment to every patient, care is guided by a thorough assessment, individualized recommendations and regular reassessment. Progress is evaluated using your experience, clinical findings and changes in function, while recognizing that every person responds differently.
Why is a thorough assessment important?
Pain shows where you feel a problem, but not always why it is happening. A thorough assessment helps Dr. Weyrauch understand relevant health history, movement patterns and clinical findings before recommending care.
Why do you focus on function as well as symptoms?
Symptom relief matters, but it is only one part of the picture. We also consider movement, daily function and the factors that may be contributing to recurring problems.
Why is every patient assessed individually?
No two people have exactly the same health history, lifestyle, goals or movement patterns. Individual assessment helps make the recommendations more appropriate and avoids applying the same routine to everyone.
How do you monitor progress?
Progress is reviewed using your feedback, clinical findings and periodic reassessment. The care plan may be modified when your needs or response change.
How does chiropractic care fit a holistic approach?
A holistic approach considers the person as a whole rather than looking only at one symptom. During these conversations, we may cover movement, posture, daily activities, physical stress, recovery habits and appropriate home exercises.
What is the goal of care?
The goal is to help each patient move better, function better and restore the body’s natural capacity to heal and adapt through individualized chiropractic care guided by thorough assessment and regular reassessment. Every recommendation is based on what is clinically appropriate for you.
